Eucalyptus perriniana

This small variety is best suited for shrubs. Young leaves are silvery gray and grow in a cirlcle around the stems. The leaves often remain attached to the stem when dry and spin in the wind. Small, cup shaped seed capsules and small white flowers grow in clusters of 3. With repeated pruning foliage can be kept young and silver. The foliage of nearly all species has a strong pungent odor similar to menthol. Well drained soil is preferable. Trees do very well planted from seed. Plant seeds in spring or summer keep shaded and water sparingly until 2 to 3 inches high. Most Eucalyptus are drought tolerant and have very few pests. The eucalyptus beetle poses the greatest threat with oval-shaped holes being one of the signs of infestation. Height: 12 ft. to 30 ft. Width: 10 ft. to 20 ft. Soil type: Mostly Sand to Clay Loam.
